Because the cooking surface cools down fast, spills won't bake onto it. This efficient 30-inch electric induction cooktop also uses 25 percent less energy than traditional ceramic glass cooktops and 58 percent less energy than traditional gas cooktops*. I was happy with it, until the glass got broken on the edge 2 weeks ago...I am still trying to figure out how did it happen. I am meticulously careful with everything and seeing this cook top broken everyday on my brand new kitchen is not the nice...specially after what I paid for it!

Have only had use of this for a few days but have found it easy to use. Burnt the first thing cooked so have to learn to take things a little slower. Bit of a learning curve but is fun. Would have preferred one of the bigger burners to be at the front as it seems am always reaching over to the back to stir or add things. Makes it a little awkward. This review would be better after a month or two of use.

Should have listened to the reviews

Bought my Whirlpool GCI3061XB00 3 yrs ago. Within the 1st 3 months it quit working. 3 trips from the local repair center fighting with Whirlpool not being able to identify the SN of my unit to repair it under warranty, we finally got it fixed. We only cook on this cooktop about once a month, now 3 yrs later its dead again. This has been a horrible experience. If you figure that in the 3 yrs we've owned this cooktop, its only been used maybe 20 times; this thing has cost me about $40 every time I've used it. Now I am going to have to shell-out more money to get it fixed AGAIN! Crazy....!

Don’t risk it

I bought my induction cooktop through IKEA. The original cooktop was ruined by a thermal crack but luckily under IKEAs warranty so Whirpool replaced it. One year later, two of the rings don’t work and there is an F47 code. I look it up on the internet and it wasn’t looking good. I call Whirlpool and they tell me there is no warranty (not that one was ever offered to me for the replacement!) but they will send a technician. Technician doesn’t show for the first appointment (after I take 4 hours off work to meet him) and when he finally come 10 days later (second half day off work) he looks up the code and tells me the whole unit needs to be replaced. Then he tells me I owe him $250 for him to stand beside me and look that info up on his iPad after I lost 8 hours of work!! So now I cook on 2 rings because I can’t afford to replace it. How can these things not be fixable?? I will tell you I loved it until this happened and now I would suggest you go with gas if you wants a reaponsive cooktop without the headaches. Like other reviewers, our cooktop has the F47 error. Estimated repair costs are more than I paid for the cooktop. In speaking with Whirlpool, they refuse to acknowledge that this is a recurring problem with the cooktop. I highly recommend steering clear of this unit.
