Whirlpool 33-inch Wide French Door Refrigerator - 22 cu. ft. - Black

Because of the space requirements for a refrigerator we were limited in our selection of new refrigerators. We had a 10 year old Maytag which was very sturdy but got rid of because we remolded the kitchen. I was very disappointed in the way the shelves were cheapened in this new Whirlpool refrigerator. Not nearly as heavy duty. When the frig was delivered we noticed that the bottom shelf, which held the fruit and vegetable drawers was sagging. The repairman came and verified that the drawers were not overloaded. He took the shelf out and apart and found that the rod across the front was bent. How did that happen? Nobody knows. So he bent the rod and reinstalled it in the shelf and it was better. He ordered a new part and came yesterday to install it. Guess what? When he put it in, the drawers still sagged. Super embarrassed, the serviceman took the rod out and bent it and the sagging is now gone. It will be interesting to see if over time it will sag again. One would expect that you can put veggies and fruit in the drawers and put things on the shelf without causing sagging. If I had a choice I would not get a Whirlpool again. Poor quality for the price.

Had to find a black refrigerator to match our other existing appliances and also fit our smaller opening. This model fits the need well The design is very modern and sleek. We were concerned about the glossy finish, but it appears to clean up well and doesn't show fingerprints unless your hands are messy.. We like the openness of the shelves, very room for a 22 cu ft model. The deli drawer is also a nice feature. The top freezer basket is nice, but not happy with the fixed divider in the bottom of the freezer. You can't fit an average size frozen pizza. One other negative is the humidity control tabs for the produce and fruit drawers. They are cheap plastic and one broke off within the first week as the drawers do not slide in and out level. The pump for adding water to the ice maker is more noisy than I would like. Even though there are a few things that could use design improvement, overall I rate this model Good. I would recommend it for someone with space constraints wanting a more basic model. It is a good value for what you get.
